My name is Didier Chambon, and I am an indie French photographer.
I started taking my first pictures in 1995.
I’m living and working in southwestern France since 2006.
Among other things, I'm also the author of "1 Rue de la Fonderie".

THE FOUNDRY STREET

"In 1826, André Kœchlin and his associates switched the first furnaces on in the west of Mulhouse, giving rise to a foundry and a workshop of mechanical engineering that Mulhouse population informally called 'Giasseraï', which means foundry in Alsatian.
During around 170 years, the company has known ups and downs, and inexorably ended up going downhill from the 1990s. From products reduction to manufacturing reduction, the laborers' expertise and the tools has gradually fell into nothingness. In November 1997, the foundry cupolas have given their last rusty-toned steam breaths.
What remains of all of this? Men, memories, and their pictures captured by Didier Chambon, while he was still part of this old boy network. Touching pictures, sometimes powerful, an industrial world haunted by fire-eater monsters, by beautiful chiaroscuros from the 20th century, this is everything Didier Chambon invites us to share in this album that seems to come from another time,... from 1995!"-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-_{Preface written by Mr. François Florent Eichholtzer, founder of the Cours Florent, Paris.

"Party night at Lear's, a respected godfather. Every member of the clan is invited. Gloucester mentions his two sons: Legitimate Edgar the and Edmund the Bastard comes back from a period spent abroad. Kent, the faithful supporter of the boss, assists at the night. Lear announces he passes on power to his daughters. He shares his territory in three sectors that he respectively hands over to Goneril, Regan and Cornelia, his favorite. The first one has the Duke of Albany as her husband, the second one the Duke of Cornwall and the last one is asked for her hand in marriage by the King of France. But what Lear asks to his daughters in exchange of the renunciation of his possessions makes Cordelia refusing it..."-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-_{Play loosely inspired by William Shakespeare's "King Lear".

Depuis 2006, Je vis et travaille dans le sud-ouest de la France.

1, RUE DE LA FONDERIE

"En 1826, André Kœchlin et ses associés allument les premiers fourneaux à l'ouest de Mulhouse, donnant naissance à une fonderie et à un atelier de construction mécanique que les Mulhousiens appellent officieusement "Giasseraï", ce qui signifie fonderie en alsacien.
Pendant environ 170 ans, l'entreprise a connu des hauts et des bas, et a inexorablement fini par décliner à partir des années 1990. De la réduction des produits à la réduction de la fabrication, le savoir-faire des ouvriers et les outils sont peu à peu tombés dans le néant. En novembre 1997, les coupoles de la fonderie ont donné leurs derniers souffles de vapeur rouillés.
Que reste-t-il de tout cela ? Des hommes, des souvenirs et leurs images capturés par Didier Chambon, alors qu'il faisait encore partie de la société. Des images touchantes, parfois puissantes, un monde industriel hanté par des monstres cracheurs de feu, par de beaux clairs-obscurs du 20e siècle, voilà tout ce que Didier Chambon nous invite à partager dans cet album qui semble venir d'un autre temps, de... 1995!"-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-_{Préface rédigée par M.
